NVMdurance to sponsor FMS 2016
Dublin, Ireland and San Jose, CA, 5 July 2016: NVMdurance, with its unique approach to extending the endurance of flash devices, will be exhibiting at this year’s Flash Memory Summit (FMS 2016) from 9 – 11 August. The Summit is held annually in the Santa Clara Convention Centre in Silicon Valley and is the major event specialising on this topic. This is the fourth year that NVMdurance has sponsored this event.
This year NVMdurance will also have representation on the Altera-Intel stand, booth number 120.
4,000 attendees, 350 speakers and 120 exhibitors are expected at the Santa Clara conference this year. Attendees will learn about latest developments in flash memory, learn to design with the latest flash chips, find new tools for developing flash applications, hear about the latest market trends, find new ways to replace disks in applications, identify new applications for non-volatile memory and find new methods for reducing power consumption.
Since last year’s event, NVMdurance announced the addition of Dave Eggleston to its board as well as $2.5 million in Series A funding. It has also progressed deals with a number of customers which will be announced in the next few weeks.
NVMdurance is dedicated to maximizing customers’ investment in flash memory. The company’s core IP is a set of patented NAND flash optimization techniques that are proven to make NAND intrinsically more reliable. NVMdurance has been doing parameter discovery and memory characterization since 2000, initially with SLC NOR and NAND, later MLC and laterally, both planar and 3D TLC. The company supports customers in every aspect of their SSD work – from provision of SSD components such as EC, NVMe and channel controllers to access to NVMdurance reference design IP.
Today, the global NAND flash market is growing at a CAGR of 10.1% to 2019, with market revenue expected to top US$49 billion by 2019.
NVMdurance presentations at FMS2016:
- Joe Sullivan and Conor Ryan, NVMdurance co-founders and CTOs jointly present a session on “Machine Learning Techniques for Improving Flash Endurance” in Forum B-11 on Tuesday August 9th, between 8:30AM and 10:50AM. The presentation will discuss how to get every available PE cycle from your NAND by a combination of characterization and parameter discovery using machine learning with active flash management on the controller side to ensure every block and LUN has the appropriate operational parameter at any given time in life.
- Joe Sullivan, co-founder and CTO is hosting the “Endurance” table at the beer and pizza Flash Expert Table Leader session from 7 to 8.30pm on Tuesday 9th August
- Pearse Coyle, CEO, presents in the FMS Theatre on Wednesday from 1.15 to 1.30
The NVMdurance exhibition stand can be found in Hall B at booth 829 and 827 next to the entrance to Halls C and D.
“We’ve have a lot to talk about this year and are looking forward to updating the industry with our latest news and customer results,” said Pearse Coyle, NVMdurance CEO. “Since we’ve a lab in Limerick, we are also running a ‘Create a limerick’ competition to win a 42 inch TV. We already have lots of entries and people can enter on the NVMdurance booth. The winner will be drawn from all budding limerick poets just before the main FMS raffle on Thursday 11 August at 1.30pm.”
